LPA Volunteer Guide:
Roles & Team Structure
I. Executive Board Roles
Co-Presidents: Chief liaisons with the Principal and School District. Coordinate activities of LPA committees, plan and run board and general LPA meetings. Work with Finance, Fundraising, and Communications Directors to plan for the future of LPA.
Vice President: The "Right Hand" to the Co-Presidents. You help oversee committee progress, lead meetings if a President is absent, and often focus on volunteer recruitment and retention.
Best for: Someone looking to learn the ropes of school leadership or who enjoys "big picture" organizational health.
Treasurers & Directors: Specialized leads for Treasury, Fundraising, and Communications.
II. Committee Structure: Chairs vs. Members
Every LPA program is run by a team. Here is how those teams are split:
Committee Chairs (The "Project Managers")
Responsibilities: Setting meeting dates, managing the specific committee budget, and being the point of contact for the Board.
Current Needs: We are recruiting Chairs for In-School Enrichment (field trips), Drama Club/School Play, Halloween, Multicultural Festival, and Fundraising.
Committee Members (The "Support Squad")
Responsibilities: Helping execute the plan! This might involve:
Events (Halloween, Multicultural Festival, BBQ, Drama Club/School Play): Event setup/takedown, pick up supplies, or manage a specific activity station.
In-School Enrichment: Research new field trips and performers for in-school assemblies or workshops. Coordinate with teachers and administration on logistics.
Treasury: Process requests for payment and reimbursements for field trips, event vendors, and enrichment instructors. Analyze spending and formulate budget.
After School Enrichment: Research new courses and instructors. Coordinate logistics of schedule and space.
Green Team: Help with specific "Earth Week" tasks or sustainability audits.
Communications: Write a short blurb for the newsletter or website, take photos at an event, develop strategy to reach broader audiences.
Fundraising: Assist with planning and executing the fundraising strategy to support all the LPA’s programs. Key events include the annual direct appeal, spirit wear drive and Fun Run! Got more ideas? We’d love to hear them.
Time Commitment: Low to Moderate. Most committees meet 3–5 times per year.
III. Specialized Support Roles
Room Parents: One to two parents per classroom. You are the direct line to your child's teacher for teacher appreciation, classroom events, and schoolwide programs.
Liaisons (School Council/WIN-PAC): Representing Lynch at specific board or district meetings and reporting back. Ideal for parents who want to stay informed on policy.
